Teachers Client Service Counter to be closed

The Client Service Counter for teachers’ salary queries located on the ground floor of the Fincorp Haus at Waigani, Port Moresby will be closed to teachers starting on 31 March , says Acting Secretary for Education, Dr. Uke Kombra.

Dr. Kombra issued this information through Secretary’s Circular No. 6 of 2016 to all Provincial Education Advisers, Provincial Education Staff, Teachers and the general public.

“The Department of Education supports the Client Service Counter but it will only serve the general queries concerning education matters and not teachers’ salary matters,” said Dr. Kombra.

He clarifies that the teachers’ salary queries will go through their respective Provincial Education Offices for Provincial Institutions and Teaching Divisions for National Institutions where respective Divisions will then liaise with the Teaching Service Commission and the Department’s Payroll Division.

Dr. Kombra further explained that teachers’ salary queries should be addressed at the Provincial Education Offices because respective Provincial Salary Staff have received training in salaries procedures and processes that support teachers.

Dr Kombra also warned that teachers with salary queries would not be served at the Client Service Counter during the school terms and should stay away from the Payroll Division on Level 3 of the Fincorp Haus.

“The closure of the Client Service Centre does not permit any teacher to come to the Payroll Division”, said the Acting Secretary.

Teachers will now be served during the school term breaks and Christmas vacation.
